UK SHIPPING FAQ
Frequently asked questions about shipping from China to the UK
These answers help you prepare the next step. Final acceptance, chargeable weight, taxes and delivery conditions depend on the actual goods, final carton, full postcode and selected service.
Pricing and timing
How is a China-to-UK shipping quote calculated?
Route type, goods category, actual and dimensional weight, minimum charge, final carton, postcode, tax treatment and handling conditions all matter. A public reference rate is not a final invoice.
How long will the shipment take?
Air, sea, rail and large-cargo services have different reference timings. Capacity, goods, customs, postcode and final delivery can change the actual arrival date.
Why does a light parcel cost more than expected?
Bulky goods can be billed by dimensional weight, usually calculated from the finished outer-carton dimensions. Packing and weight increments also matter.
Is sea freight always cheaper?
No. Sea freight can suit flexible, heavier or bulkier cargo, but minimum chargeable weight, timing, final carton and postcode conditions must be compared.
Goods eligibility
Can food, cosmetics, liquids or batteries ship?
They need a product-specific review. Ingredients, capacity, quantity, brand, battery type, packing and route conditions determine availability.
Can branded goods ship as ordinary goods?
Do not assume they can. Brand status, value and product information need to be provided before a route is selected.
Can I mix sensitive items with clothing?
Some services may permit defined mixed packing, while others require a separate shipment. Submit the full list before consolidation.
Can large luggage or furniture ship?
Yes only after a larger-cargo review of dimensions, packing, address access, unloading, postcode and the delivery site.
Charges and delivery
Why is the complete UK postcode required?
It is needed to review delivery coverage, remote areas, island or highland restrictions, access and final-mile conditions. City name alone is not enough.
What can trigger additional charges?
Dimensional weight, oversize or overweight cartons, irregular packing, wooden frames or crates, remote areas, access, unloading, redelivery and special handling may affect a quote.
What does tax-included service wording mean?
It describes the selected route's clearance and tax-handling scope. Confirm the exact route terms and declare goods accurately before dispatch.
What happens if final carton data changes?
The route and price can change. Confirm the actual sealed carton, not an early estimate, before the shipment is dispatched.
